GAAHBSU Georgia Alumni Association of Historically Black State Universities

  • Ramada Plaza Hotel 450 Capitol Avenue SE Atlanta, Georgia (map)

The 33rd Annual GAAHBSU (Georgia Alumni Association of Black State Universities) Legis-lative Conference will be held on January23-25, 2018, at the Ramada Plaza Hotel (Downtown Atlanta). GAAHBSU is a consortium initially comprised of the National Alumni Associations of Albany State, Fort Valley State, and Savan-nah State Universities. This consortium was or-ganized to advance the missions and to help en-sure the futures of these historically significant institutions. The legislative conference provides a forum for alumni and officials of these three Historically Black State Universities to meet and dialogue with Georgia’s elected officials and other key state leaders in order to address the universities’ common goals, objectives, and concerns.

“Envisioning Our Future, Embracing Our Legacy, and Expanding Our Horizon” has been chosen as this year’s conference theme. It is our goal to engage alumni in discussions that will lead to the creation of ideas and strategies that will enhance our institutions as we move forward in today’s environment of consolida-tions, budget reductions, and declining enroll-ment.

The Savannah State University National Alumni Association. Inc. will serve as the host Associa-tion for this year’s conference. Ms. Beauty Baldwin, an Alum of Savannah State Universi-ty, is the Chairperson of the 2018 GAAHBSU Legislative Conference.

We hope you will make plans now to join us. Your ideas, energy, and passion for our univer-sities are needed now more than ever. Please make plans to join us in Atlanta Jan 23-25, 2018 for this year’s GAAHBSU Legislative Conference.
